Phase 2 Reviews Commence
In line with its stated goals the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (National Board) has commenced the second phase of reviews of safeguarding practice. To date, six diocesan second Reviews have been initiated, five are complete and a further four are planned. At the time of writing, Reviews, as with other planned National Board work, have been delayed, due to the coronavirus crisis.

In November 2018, the Holy Father entrusted to Most Reverend Substitute, the task of assisting the Organizing Committee for the Meeting on “The Protection of Minors in the Church”, composed of Cardinal Blaise Cupich, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, His Excellency Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna and Father Hans Zollner, in the preparation of said Meeting, which was then held in the Vatican from 21-24 February 2019.
